Poughkeepsie Day School’s after-school program includes a mixed-age (PreK-Grade 6) group of students from our school and others in the area.
Students engage in a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, dance, and playtime outside on our playground.
The hours for this position are from 2:45 pm to 5:45 pm; the program begins at 3:00 pm and all children are picked up by 5:30 pm.
This is a part-time position, running daily whenever school is open.
Along with a genuine interest and delight in the well-being and happiness of children, candidates must:
* take responsibility and work as a team
* recognize how and when to offer support and guidance
* maintain calm in periods of intense activity
* interact and communicate well with parents
* Have previous experience working with children
The after-school teacher incorporates their interests into the development of an engaging program.
For this reason, the ideal candidate will have musical ability, theater experience, an interest in dance, athletic skills, or practice in any of the visual arts.
