Senior Counselor - Starfish

We are seeking reliable, fun loving, energetic and open minded staff committed to working with youth for an incredible summer camp program.
We are seeking those who are available for as much, if not all, of the camp season and training dates as possible.
This is a grant funded camp located at the Kingston YMCA with specific summer learning loss prevention, healthy living, and service learning objectives.
Candidates should be prepared to be enthusiastically supportive of program activities.
Preference given to those candidates pursuing a career in education.
Camp Season runs 7/1/2024-8/9/2024.
Mandatory training dates TBD in June 2024.
Must be 18 year or older to apply.
Duties may include but are not limited to: Assists the Camp Director in the overall leadership of camp operations.
Supervises a group of children.
Sets the tone and provides guidance to assigned staff team.
Plans and implements program activities that is culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
Attends staff meetings and training.
Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
Maintains open communication with camper guardians.
Maintains positive relations with families and other staff.
Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions.
Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.
