The Department of Information Technology Services (ITS) at SUNY Cobleskill seeks individuals with the desire to join an innovative, collaborative team as a Business Analyst.
The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting campus-wide efforts to identify, propose, and implement opportunities for innovation and business process improvements to enhance academic and administrative experience for the campus community.
The Business Analyst is part of a team of professionals responsible for the continuous innovation and improvement of services by analyzing current business processes and considering goals and roadmaps to provide recommendations for improvement.
She/He/They will be responsible for the continuous improvement and development of business process analysis standards and best practices.
The successful candidate has excellent organizational and communication skills and the ability to cultivate relationships with a wide range of constituents ranging from campus leadership to front-line staff.
The Business Analyst is expected to work well with limited supervision and within a team environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in performing business process analysis, design, and requirements gathering to establish or enhance business process efficiencies to recommend and implement improvements
Assist in defining scope and objectives to lead customers in mapping current to future state business processes that align with goals
Work closely with technical staff to ensure system designs meet customer business needs and requirements
Act as a liaison between customers, vendors, and technical teams to identify and resolve issues or problems
Assist in project and portfolio management to render enhanced services and solutions
Implement business automation processes using campus technology and services
Stay up to date on the latest features and advancements to automate or improve processes for products within assigned scope
Keep skills current by maintaining and following a professional development plan
Develop and maintain documentation to capture business process analysis best practices and standards, and track business process changes
Be available to provide scheduled support and consultation outside normal business hours within reasonable professional obligation
- Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) processes
- Ability to vaticinate business needs and translate them into technical requirements
- Familiarity with database design principles and SQL queries
- Project management skills to effectively manage timelines and deliverables
- Experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes is a plus
This role requires a highly analytical mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have a passion for leveraging data to drive business decisions and possess a strong attention to detail.
