Farm Market Retail Sales Associate

_*HEARTY ROOTS FARM & MARKET *_ Hearty Roots Farm is located in Clermont, NY.
The farm currently grows about 25 acres of certified organic vegetables per year and cares for a large flock of laying hens.
We have an onsite market where we sell our produce alongside other regional grocery products from the Northeast.
*Farm Market Retail Sales Position*: We are seeking a high-energy individual with a passion for local food and community.
We're a fast-paced team that aims to create a high quality marketplace to connect people to all the great local foods and products throughout our region.
If you are interested in learning more about mid-scale, certified organic farming and gain valuable experience in farmers market sales, this position might be for you! *Job Responsibilities include :* ● Opening the Market: Stocking produce, light vegetable prep, cleaning, stocking shelves, pricing new products.
● Customer and CSA member experience: You should have a genuine interest in talking to the public about our products.
Good communication skills/customer service skills are a must.
● Sales and Merchandising: Helping shoppers at the register, creating and maintaining attractive signage and displays in the market, updating inventory stock to keep the store looking fresh and fully stocked at all times.
● Miscellaneous: Accepting deliveries throughout the day, organizing shelves and restocking products, weighing and packing produce for sale, keeping track of inventory, keeping the store neat and tidy.
● Closing the Market: Storing fresh produce at the end of the day and light restocking for the next day, end of day cleaning, sweeping, mopping etc.
*The Ideal Candidate*: ● One season of farming experience or one year of experience in restaurant ,farmers market or retail sales.
● Can maintain quality control and has an eye for detail.
● Prepared to lift produce boxes, perform repetitive tasks and stand for extended periods.
● Interest in learning about the community of farms and makers in the Hudson Valley.
● Excellent communicator, enjoys engaging with customers and answering questions about produce, recipe suggestions, etc.
*Schedule:* ● Hours: Our market is open Monday-Saturday 10-6pm, Sunday 10-4pm.
Opening Shifts from 9-5pm, Closing Shifts from 11-7pm or 1-7pm.
Current applicants must be available to work at least one closing shift.
● There are opportunities to work part-time in the market and/or part-time on the farm crew for those who have some previous farming experience.
● Option for full-time or part-time hours and year round employment through the winter months.
*Compensation*: $16-$19/hour based on experience.
