LaBella is searching for a highly capable individual to serve as a Planner/ Project Manager in our City of Poughkeepsie, NY office leading land development projects through the local entitlement process.
The City of Poughkeepsie has always had great bones and, as The New York Times recognized, “has worked hard for its revival.
” A historic Main Street, stunning river views, locally owned shops and businesses, and an eclectic community have always been steadfast Poughkeepsie characteristics, but there is new movement in the air.
Poughkeepsie is a city on the go.
New buildings are going up, old favorites are getting renovated, partnerships strengthening, and new connections being made.
Everybody is investing in Poughkeepsie.
Bloomberg is reporting that the City of Poughkeepsie is the eighth most popular relocation destination in the entire country, up from 17 last year.

Role As Planner/Project Manager in our Land Development team manages projects through multiple phases of development, including existing conditions assessments, programming, feasibility studies, schematic design, and regulatory submissions.
You would manage project approval processes and provide technical expertise relative to zoning regulations, public policy, State Environmental Quality Review and other relevant general land use review procedures.
Your project portfolio could include projects from anywhere in the Hudson Valley, including project types such as commercial, industrial and residential new construction and renovation with responsibility for approximately 6-10 active projects.
Responsibilities • Serves as prime contact on contracts for projects through multiple phases of development, including existing conditions assessments, programming, feasibility studies, schematic design, and regulatory submissions.
• Executes a risk based management approach to project delivery which includes: identifying project risk, forecasting project risk and appropriately mitigating project risk.
• Manages complex projects involving multiple public and private parties leading and influencing project teams to achieve desired outcomes.
• Upholds standards of quality, quantity and timeliness for all deliverables.
Qualifications • Three or more years of professional experience in planning the regulation of land development in fields involving regulatory approvals of zoning plans, land sub-division, environmental review, public entitlement approvals, transportation and economic development plans • Bachelor's degree in planning or civil engineering, public policy, political science, real estate development, or a related field, • Extensive knowledge of zoning, planning issues, environmental regulations and environmental review procedures is required • Ability to prepare and review technical applications in zoning, environmental review and other land use regulations, and provide technical expertise related to those regulations to project teams • Ability to use spreadsheet and presentation applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, GIS • Teamwork and problem-solving skills, a willingness to accept responsibility, ask tough questions, and have a solutions-oriented approach • Ability to organize and prioritize among competing needs and opportunities and anticipate and resolve problems as they arise • Strong interpersonal, written, verbal and analytical skills required • Must have a valid driver's license and willingness to travel for evening meetings to distant NY locations.
Additional Desired Qualifications: • Ability to manage project from schematic design through construction documentation, bidding, construction, and project close-out.
• Proficiency and experience with construction.
Salary Range: $60,000-$85,000 The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.
